Rules of the Road – Start Here!
OpenLebo.com is an open forum for topics of discussion about Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. This discussion topic outlines the Rules of the Road for participating in this site.
This site was started as an alternative to social networks like Facebook, many of which track you across the web, sell your data to the highest bidder, and are used to spread hate and division. To learn more about how we started and who is behind this site, read About Open Lebo.
The Rules
The rules of OpenLebo.com are quite simple. There is no anonymous posting. To participate on the site you must create an account using your name and email which is then verified. In doing so, you agreed to our terms of service and our privacy policy. Now is a great time to read our User Guidelines which lay out the things you can and cannot do on this site. They’re pretty simple too.
These three documents govern your access to the site, what you can do on the site, and what we can do with the information you post on this site. Read the docs. If you don’t understand them or if you have questions please leave a reply here so we can answer them for all to see. You can send also a note via email to info@openlebo.com and we can answer you there too.
The Objective of OpenLebo.com
This is fairly simple too. We wanted to create a place where Mt Lebanon residents could ask questions, get answers, and interact with other community members in a safe place free from hate speech, divisiveness, or advertising and without having their information or data sold to third parties. This is a place for posting information and updates that will be helpful to others as they live, work, and play in Mt. Lebanon. If you want to learn more about how and why this site was started, read this blog post.
How We Make This a Great Community
Be respectful of others and recognize that not everyone will have the same opinions, points of view, or experiences that you do. If we seek to understand, educate, support, and build up rather than tear down, OpenLebo.com will become a trusted network for community information.
Say Hello
Humans interact much better with each other when we know who we are dealing with. That’s why ice breakers are an important part of interpersonal and team-building exercises. The virtual version of saying hello is introducing yourself in the new member introductions discussion topic.
If you’re new to the site, why not head over there now, read a few of the introductions and then hit the big blue reply button and leave an introduction of your own so others can get to know you better too.
Still Need Help?
If you’re still confused, head on over to the support forum for answers to a few common questions or create a discussion there and site moderators will help the best we can.
Thanks for being a part of this community experiment. We look forward to your contributions!
